羊毛毡是采用羊毛制作而成的目前人类历史记载中最古老的织品形式，距今至少八千年的历史。这种非编织而成的织品，比纺织、针织等技术更早的被人类所使用。

羊毛毡是羊毛“毡化”后的产物。外表看似柔细的羊毛，其表面覆盖着许多肉眼看不到的鳞片组织，当它们经过挤压、摩擦，就会相互缠绕在一起变得越来越紧实，这个过程便称作毡化。

毡化的发现起源于一个有趣的故事，西方一个鞋帽商人在逃跑躲避敌人时，在树林中发现了一些羊毛，为了减轻疼痛，他收集羊毛裹住双脚后重新穿回鞋继续狂奔。当到达安全的地方后，他发现竟然神奇的制作出了一双毡鞋。

而作为中国民间传统手工艺之一的刺绣，本次与羊毛毡的神仙组合，又会碰撞出怎样热烈的火花？来来来，兴趣班告诉你~

Wool felt, which is made of wool, is the oldest form of fabric in recorded human history. Its history can trace back to more than eight thousand years. This kind of non-woven fabric was used by human beings long before the technology of weaving and knitting.

Wool felt is the product of wool “felting”. The seemingly soft-looking wool is covered with many textures that cannot be seen by our eye. After being squeezed and rubbed, they are entangled with each other tightly. This process is called felting.

The discovery of felting began with an interesting story about a western merchant dealing with shoes and hats businesses.  During the time of escaping from the enemy, he found some wool in the woods. In order to alleviate his pain, he collected  the wool to wrapp his feet, then put on his shoes and continued to run. When he arrived at the a safe place, he noticed that he had made a pair of felt shoes unintentionally.

Embroidery, one of the traditional Chinese folk handicrafts, will be combined with the wool felt in this workshop. What will happen? This course will take you to find it out.

Who Can Take This Workshop?

FASHION LOVERS. Whether you are a student, an office worker or a freelancer. As long as you like handicraft and are concerned about the fashion, want to engage yourself in the design industry, this course is suitable for you!

Theme:

1. Understand the methods of wool felt making and identify related tools

2. Learn to use tools to make wool felt and embroidery handicraft

3. Complete a wool felt-embroidery handicraft.

Process: 

1. The course will be delivered in an easy way to understand theories so that students have a preliminary understanding of the wool felt making tools and methods.

2. With the guidance from the lecturer, students will then design and make their own handicraft work with the materials provided.

3. Presentation time.

Patty Peng 广东省十佳时装设计师、广东省服装设计师协会理事、‘虎门杯’国际青年设计(女装)大赛金奖。 Patty从事服装行业15年，有着丰富的管理经验及实战技巧理念。曾分别任职于国内大型服装企业、电商企业担任服装设计总监、品牌艺术总监。Patty注重时尚潮流与文化传承的精神，她曾为多位客户提供高级女装定制服务， 其中包括世界礼仪皇后Miss Dally 。

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design, Middlesex University (UK)

Patty has been in the garment industry for over 15 years, garnering a wealth of management experience and practical skills. Her work experience included being the Design Director of a large-scale Chinese garment enterprise, among others. Patty focuses on fashion and social-cultural aspects of the Chinese aesthetics. In this regard, she still has a ready pool of high-end customers looking for her consultation services, including the beauty pageant winners and socialites.

Aboout Raffles Design Institute

Raffles Design Institute was founded in 1990, which is one of the top 50 fashion schools in the world. Raffles was awarded the Asian Fashion Design Education Outstanding Contribution Award by the Asia Fashion Association. Applicants are entitled to a 40 percent discount if they sign up before 18 August 2019, high school student with student ID can also get a 40 percent discount for the experience.

The number of applicants is limited to 15, no application will be accepted once the quota is reached.

The college will prepare the necessary tools for the class in advance, the deadline for the payment is 5 PM, August 25. There will be no refunds once paid. The work will belong to students.
